My name is John Hanson and Karen & I are applying for the
job as your Realtors. To that end, may I tell you a little about
myself and provide a history of some of the leadership positions I
have held & enjoyed?
I am a 61-year-old father of four daughters and grandfather of 17.
Karen & I are approaching our 34th
anniversary and learning to appreciate "Maturity". We love
living near our family - the reason for moving to Utah - and have
learned to truly cherish this state. I was born here, in Ogden, but
lived everywhere else but Utah until 1993.
I am retired from Federal Law Enforcement after a 25 year career
and am enthusiastic about my second profession as a Realtor. I
currently serve as President of the Utah County Association of
Realtors and my prior service includes Chairmanship of both the
Government Affairs and MLS Committees, service on the state
legislative committee, and three years on the WFRMLS Advisory
Committee.
I am a public kind of guy and have loved being involved in
community. I’ve held elected positions as a school board director,
state legislative committee chair of Washington States’ 300 school
boards, community parks commission, and currently serve as a member
of the Utah County Planning Commission.
My career with U.S. Customs took me around the world several
times and allowed me to spend time in some of the most intriguing
parts of our globe. I found 3rd world countries to be
more fascinating than the richer nations of the world, and relished
getting to know people & places in S.E. Asia and Central
America, serving in Viet Nam, Laos, Thailand, Panama & Costa
Rica, as well as in Europe.
I taught at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center - FLETC -
in Glynco, Georgia and developed national level training courses
there for supervisors and investigators. I worked as a field
enforcement officer, a supervisor, a manager, an academy instructor,
and PR liaison with press & media - all fascinating jobs held
during a long & satisfying career.
I started my family in Washington DC where I met Karen, &
since then we have raised our kids in California, Washington State,
and Utah with what we consider to be great success. Two of our
daughter are RN’s, one a school teacher, and one an accountant.
One of our nurses & our accountant have job-switched to Real
Estate and work with me - something which I enjoy more than I can
say. My wife Karen is also a licensed Realtor while still practicing
her skills as an RN, and assists when the workload gets too heavy
for the rest of us.
I sought and received my broker’s license last year and took
over management of a 35 agent office for Prudential Realty
Associates in American Fork. I brought that office to its first
profitable quarter in four years, but found that I miss both sales
and the freedom of being my own boss. That led me to leave
Prudential and start my own company - Home Team Realty - with the
idea of promoting my team and our own brand of marketing &
service. After having been moved several times in my previous
career, I have a pretty good idea of what makes a good Realtor, and
that is what we try to offer our clients. We can do that best with
our own company.
After
my family, the loves of my life are:
Flying (I hold a commercial license with instrument & multi- engine ratings)
Motorcycles (see photo at left)
Ham Radio (my call sign is KI7AR)
Golf (not very good, but LOTS of fun)
Guitar (good for my soul).
We are hard workers and promise you our best efforts in your
behalf. If you’d like to, please call
me for questions or just to chat - 376-2139. Check out our unique
and user-friendly brand of service. You won’t be sorry.
Thank you,
John
